4:12 PM 9/16/2009: Only for Geeks...

While I do read alot about computers everyday to keep up (and because I like the things) I also read alot of Sci/Tech stories also. Came by a CNN story that the first "Rocky", Earth like planet has been found.

While they have found over 400+ Jupiter type planets this is the smallest found to date with a mass of only about 5x the Earth and about twice the circumference.

And all this means a few things, such as....
They are getting better at finding smaller and smaller planets.
It has now been proven that a "Earth Like" planet can exist outside of our own star system (Sol). And as with the other 400+ Jupiter like planets that have been found it is a pretty sure bet that more earth like planets will be found.

It's kind of cool that in my lifetime I grew up with books that said we "might" one day discover extrasolar planets. And less then 30 years later read about 400+.
