RenoGeek's Computer Terms Glossary - Beta

Denotes software that is going through a testing or "beta" phase. This is often done with programs before a release is made to the general public.

During this phase, software is tested for bugs and other problems and feedback is giving from the "beta testers" to the software programmers.

In many cases the testers get a free copy of the software once it is finished.
