A type of challenge response test that makes sure that a person is typing a answer and not a bot of some kind.

Most kinds of captcha use distorted text that the user must then re-type into a form to prove they are human. The main reason they are used is so that webmasters can prevent automated programs from sending spam to the webmaster or to stop unwanted messages from being posted to webiste forums.
