RenoGeek's Computer Terms Glossary - Clone
The term "IBM Clone" came about in the 1980's to describe computers made by companies other than IBM. Often referred to as "IBM compatibles". They were called clones because the computers worked just like the ones being made IBM at the time.
"Clone" or "Cloning" is also a term used when copying the total contents of a hard drive to another hard drive.
