Has some basic troubleshooting skills but very often jumps to wrong conclusions based on limited experience.
Earning $10.00 to $15.00 hour.
You will find this tech working...
As a mid-level tech or asst manager at a big box store.
8 to 10 Years of experience:
Enough experience to know about what is out today and also know about older products.
Has real confidence and a skill-set that is useful to most repair work and service.
Earning: $20 to $30 hour.
You will find this tech working...
As a Tech support manager at a big box store or small company.
11 to 20 years of experience:
A real pro. Able to solve most problems. Relies on experience, not guess work.
Access to many resources and has the ability to find and apply information quickly to any repair.
Earning $30 to $50 hour.
You will find this tech working...
As a computer repair shop owner or doing freelance work.
30+ years of experience:
Professional that started with computers before you could buy them in stores.
They have very few peers in their area and most can write their own tickets for any job they wish to have.
Most become independents or own their own shops and compared to others they have very advanced skills handling all types of software, have built their own hardware from scratch, have designed networks and started to use the Internet before it even had a name.
They are often called upon by other techs to fix problems nobody else can figure out.
Earning: $50 to $300 hr.

As an independent contractor, computer shop owner or teaching advanced computer repair to other techs.
